Doginal Dogs are Doginals: media inscriptions on Dogecoin. They are not ERC-721 contracts on Ethereum and not “wrapped DOGE pictures” on a sidechain by default. Each dog is an inscription (or inscription set, depending on encoding) whose discoverability depends on indexers.
Protocol lineage
Base inscription capability traces to open-source Dogecoin tooling publicly associated with apezord/doginals (February 2023) and subsequent wallet/market infrastructure. Doginal Dogs consumes that ecosystem; it does not replace protocol history.

On-chain media thesis
Brand education pages stress that collection content is inscribed on Dogecoin—the “content is the coin” framing used across Doginals explainers—rather than a thin token pointing only to a mutable HTTPS image. Practical caveats still apply:
- Large files may use multi-part / multi-transaction inscriptions.
- Indexers may cache derivatives for performance.
- UI metadata can lag or err even when base data is on-chain.
Traits and collectible structure
Marketplace UIs present trait filters (background, fur color, head, clothes, and related fields). That structure supports collector language familiar from Ethereum PFPs while remaining inscription-native. Official “hand-curated” claims describe production philosophy; they are not a substitute for a public open-source generative script.
Indexing and the official market
market.doginaldogs.com functions as the brand’s trading and discovery UI. Legal text in inscription markets typically states that the product is a best-effort index interface over blockchain data—subject to reorgs, rule changes, and incomplete off-chain metadata. Collectors should understand that “what the market shows” is an indexer opinion, not a separate settlement layer.

Custom infrastructure (what is known vs claimed)
Promotional articles sometimes credit team developers (including NOS) with building marketplace and indexing components “from scratch.” That is plausible for a brand market product but should be worded carefully: the category of Doginals indexing predates any single collection. Credit team engineering for product infrastructure; credit early open-source authors for protocol possibility.

- Never share seed phrases with “support” accounts.
- Bookmark official domains; phishing clones are common.
